Publication - Effect of 1BL/1RS translocation on gluten protein fraction quantities and dough rheological properties(Science Press, 2015) Dehui Zhao; Yan Jun; Huang Yu-Lian; Xianchun Xia; Yan Zhang; Yubing Tian; He Zhonghu; Yong Zhang
Publication - Effect of 1BL/1RS translocation on grain quality and noodle quality in bread wheat(Institute of Crop Sciences, 2004) Jianjun Liu; He Zhonghu; Peña, Roberto; Zhen-Dong ZhaoTotally, 152 wheat cultivars from China, Australia, and USA, were used as to identify the presence of 1BL/1RS translocation, and for the composition of IIMW and LMW glutenin subunits. Seventy-eight cultivars were grown at two locations for two years to test grain quality and Chinese dry white noodle quality. HMW and LMW glutenin subunits composition in 1BL/1RS cultivars was inferior to that in non-1BL/1RS cultivars. 1BL/1RS translocation mainly affected protein quality traits such as dough stability, maximum resistance and extensibility, but it had little effect on protein quantitative, traits such as grain hardness, protein content, wet gluten content and water absorption, also little effect on starch traits such as swelling volume and pasting peak viscosity. 1BL/1RS translocation caused a significant decrease in noodle-making quality.
Publication - Evaluation of molecular markers specific for 1BL-1RS translocation and characterization of 1RS chromosome in wheat varieties from different origins(Institute of Crop Sciences, 2009) Tang Huai-Jun; Guihong Yin; Xianchun Xia; Feng Jian-Jun; Yanying Qu; He ZhonghuFor the purpose of discriminating the 1BL-1RS translocation for wheat quality improvement, a total of ten STS, one SCAR and four RAPD markers specific to 1BL-1RS translocations as well as 22 SSR markers located on 1RS were employed to detect 78 accessions of 1BL-1RS translocations, 10 non-1BL?1RS translocations, and three rye materials. The 1BL-1RS translocations included Zhou 8425B and its 36 derivatives, Lankao 906 and its five derivatives, Aimengniu and its eight derivatives, and Lovrin series with 1BL?1RS translocation (29 accessions). With the help of seven STS, one SCAR, three RAPD, and three SSR markers, the 1BL?1RS translocations were identified effectively. Markers -sec-p1/-sec-p2, -sec-p3/-sec-p4, H20, and SECA2/SECA3 were the best with stable amplification, clear bands on electrophoresis gel, good repeatability, and simple operation. In the 78 1BL-1RS translocations, no diversities were observed according to the markers located on 1RS.
Publication - Utilization of 1BL/1RS translocation in wheat breeding in China(Institute of Crop Sciences, 2004) Zhou Yang; He Zhonghu; Zhang, G.S.; Xia, L.Q.; Xinmin Chen; Gao, Y.C.; Jing, Z.B.; Yu, G.J.In total , 179 predominant cultivars in recent 30 years and new breeder’s lines from main ecological zones of China were examined by SDS2PAGE and SCAR for the presence of 1BL/ 1RS. On average , 38 % of Chinese wheats released since 1980 contained 1BL/ 1RS , however , its frequency differed in different ecological zones , which was 59 % for Northern Winter Wheat Zone , 42 % for Yellow2Huai River Valley Winter Wheat Zone and 20 % for both Middle and Low Valley of Yangtze River Winter Wheat Zone and Southwest Winter Wheat Zone. No 1BL/ 1RS cultivars were found in Northeast Spring Wheat Zone. The cultivars with high dough elasticity were generally not 1BL/ 1RS translocations. High molecular weight glutenin subunits ( HMW2GS) may have some complementary effects on the quality defects caused by 1BL/ 1RS. From breeding point of view , 1BL/ 1RS parents are generally not recommended in breeding for medium to high dough elas2 ticity , or one of the parents at least should not be 1BL/ 1RS. Good combination of HMW2GS sho ld be presented when 1BL/ RS parent is used. The quality defects of 1BL/ 1RS should also be considered in soft wheat breeding.
